IFALPA MEETINGS & EVENTS

Chaired by Captain Jeroen Kruse of VNV, the 2019 Security (SEC) Committee Meeting took place in
Dhaka, 15-17 October. This was the first ever IFALPA Committee meeting organized in Bangladesh, and
the Federation is extremely grateful to BAPA and in particular Captain Ishtiaque, EVP ASIA-PAC, and Captain
Intekhab for all the work they put in to make this first meeting successful.

These efforts were rewarded by an impressive attendance of 31 delegates. These included representatives
from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, the National
Security and Intelligence Agency, the Immigration Police, the Rapid Action Battalion, and the Airport Armed
Police Battalion.

BAPA also organized an extensive social programme which included a welcome event, a boat tour, a light-
show organised by the Bangladesh military, a visit of the Bangladesh Parliament and BAPA’s Annual Gala
Dinner at the historic Dhaka Club.

The event started with a formal inaugural ceremony. The Committee was honoured by the presence of Air
Marshall Enamul Bari, Chair of Biman Bangladesh Airline’s Board of Directors, and Dr Gawher Rizvi, Hon-
ourable Advisor to the Prime Minister, who delivered a keynote speech and stressed that most passengers
usually take for granted that their travel by air travel is safe and secure, without realizing the extraordinary
